It's Almost Halloween but You Can Dress Up All Year Long

It feels like kids have finally just settled into their classrooms this fall and now Halloween is already right around the corner! Budgets are tight these days and it can be hard to drop money on kids costumes they’ll wear only ONE day.

So, we have a solution for you!

We have an amazing selection of costumes and accessories that kids can wear on Halloween and then use all year long for dress up play.

Here are some ideas:

  1. Great Pretenders Costumes
Great Pretenders is a Canadian company started by a mom who wanted more fun and imaginative toys for her kids to play with. And have they ever succeeded!

We carry stunning princess dresses that any kid would feel magical in.

And great career costumes like doctor, firefighter, astronaut, construction worker, veterinarian, something for every kid.

Some of our favourite dress up clothes Great Pretenders make include items kids can put on themselves! We carry capes that are super easy to put on and make for great costumes.

Great Pretenders makes awesome fairy dresses that can slip right over a child’s head without any help from a grown up. These would work well over normal clothes for a school party, over warm clothes for Halloween night and then awesome for independent dress up play later.

Of course, we carry some good ol’ classic Halloween costumes too! It wouldn’t be a haunted holiday without a mummy or a bat running around our streets… and of course a superhero too, keeping us all safe.

  1. Accessories
A costume doesn’t have to be complicated! A set of fairy wings, tutu and wand is all a child needs to feel special on Halloween.

Crowns, princess hats, fancy gloves, tiaras, headbands, superhero masks… there are so many affordable options can make a costume perfect. These accessories will get continued use in pretend play.

Or maybe a child doesn’t feel like wearing a costume to school, they can don some spooky jewelry or fun face stickers instead!

  1. Silks
Our collection of Sarah’s Silks is truly magical with their limitless possibilities. Sarah’s Silks is a family owned business making Waldorf inspired toys. Their silks are sustainably made from 100% pure mulberry silk.

Silk wings would make a beautiful butterfly costume paired with wrist streamers!
A garland and silk together could be made into a princess costume. Playsilks can be turned into anything – a cape, skirt, dress, wings, crown. And then after Halloween, they will be played with in so many different ways!!

Halloween shopping doesn’t have to be daunting. Bring your kiddos into our shop or show them the options on our website! Then, watch as your child feels the magic of dressing up and being someone else for the night. Happy Halloween!

And here's a throwback to when the toy store parents dressed their kiddo up as Grapes!
